her father sat behind his imposing desk, his expression stern as he regarded his daughter with a mixture of disappointment and determination.
“Dorthy,” he began, his voice cold and measured, “we need to talk.”

“What happened
yesterday was unacceptable.” He continued, his tone leaving no room for argument. “You treated the household staff with disrespect, and that is something I will not tolerate.”
Dorthy opened her mouth to protest, but her father held up a hand to silence her.
“I’ve made a decision,” he said, his voice firm. “This is your final warning. If you make another mistake like yesterday, you will be sent abroad to live on your own. You will be given a fixed allowance for your expenses, and you will have to fend for yourself.”
