Rebecca was stunned. The minimum required experience for such a role was ten years, and she was just a fresher with no experience. Had the HR department made a mistake? She checked the other documents, but each one confirmed the same position.
“Hello? Alaina, are you there?” Sam’s voice brought her back to reality.
“Sam, I applied for the secretary’s post. Why did they appoint me as Special Assistant to the Vice President?” Rebecca asked nervously.
“What salary did they offer?” Sam asked instead of answering.
“$100,000 per annum,” Rebecca replied, staring at the offer letter in disbelief.
“Wow, that’s generous!” Sam exclaimed.
“Stop it, Sam. I’m confused. Maybe it’s a mistake,” Rebecca said.
“Who cares if it’s a mistake or not? Just accept it. You’ll become rich in no time. I’m so happy for you!” Sam said excitedly.
“I’ll check with the HR department when I go for my joining,” Rebecca insisted.
“Fine, but you’re treating me to a meal at Sawana Restaurant,” Sam demanded.
“Sawana? That place is for the elite, not ordinary people like me. I’ll pick the place, okay?” Rebecca replied helplessly.

James led her to her cabin, a small room adjacent to the VP’s office, equipped with a desk, intercom, computer, and a two-seater sofa.
She was handed a laptop containing detailed information about the VP, Mr. William Johnson. At 28, he was the successor to Johnson’s Group, set to inherit the entire business in a few years. Known for his playboy lifestyle, he had no steady girlfriend but many female friends.
“Miss Martin, your physical training begins tomorrow. You’ll also need to move into the company-allotted apartment,” James explained.
“Physical training? What for?” Rebecca asked, confused.
“Since you’ll be on duty 24/7, you need to be physically fit. There may be odd situations that require strength and flexibility,” James said.
“I wasn’t told about this during the interview. What else does this job require?” Rebecca asked, feeling overwhelmed.
“You’ll need to be an expert driver, a trained martial artist, and a skilled negotiator. The company will provide three months of training,” James explained.
“Okay, may I ask one more question?” Rebecca said timidly.
“Of course,” James replied.
“If you’re already here, why did the company hire me for the same post?” she asked.
